Accomplishments

Tim is proud to bring your voice to Ottawa; most recently writing two pieces of legislation - the Canada Farmland Protection Act and Affordable Local Food Act.

Canada Farmland Protection Act

Farmland is a non-renewable natural resource. Once it gets paved over, it is gone forever. 95% of Ontario cannot grow food, and our local farmland is part of the precious remaining 5%. In Ontario, we are losing 319 acres of farmland a day. I am taking action and creating the Canada Farmland Protection Act to establish a national framework to safeguard the agricultural land that feeds our families and grows

our economy. This legislation builds on work I have done as a member of our Agriculture Committee, including introducing a motion to study the protection of prime agriculture land. I have also been working across party lines with Senator Rob Black in successfully advocating for the preservation of the Pickering Lands. I’ll continue working with farmers, stakeholders, industry leaders, and all levels of government to protect our farmland for future generations.

Affordable Local Food Act

Supporting local farmers and producers has always been a priority for me. When we grow, produce, and buy more of our food here at home, we strengthen our local economy, create jobs, and ensure our communities have access to fresh, high-quality food. That’s why I’m writing the Affordable Local Food Act, which will establish a national strategy to promote and protect locally grown Canadian food. This means more support for farmers, stronger food security, and a more resilient food system for families across the country. I’ll keep fighting to make sure the food we put on our tables is grown right here in Canada, now and for generations to come.

$200M+ in Federal Investments for Kitchener-Conestoga, including:
Kitchener-Conestoga

  • Canada Summer Jobs  - Over $4M in Canada Summer Jobs funding since 2019, creating 1,058 jobs. 

  • New housing units - Fast-tracking more than 4,436 new housing units in Kitchener-Conestoga since 2023. 

  • Canada Child Benefit - $114M in Canada Child Benefit payments since 2021, supporting 18K+ families. 

  • Child Care Fees - In our region, families save up to $15,000 per child a year in child care fees.
    The Canadian Dental Care Plan - has helped over 4,011 people in Kitchener-Conestoga. 

  • Volunteer Firefighters - increased tax credits for local volunteer firefighters from $3,000 to $6,000. 

  • Supporting Seniors - Over $6.1M in funding for local organizations supporting seniors. 

  • Veterans - More than $3M in funding for veterans in our community. 

  • Food Initiatives and Agriculture - $4.7 million in food initiatives and agriculture in Kitchener-Conestoga.

Wellesley

  • Internet Connectivity - $18 million in funding to improve broadband internet and connectivity for thousands of homes. 

  • School Upgrades - $176,000 to Linwood Public School and St. Clements Catholic School for vital upgrades. 

  • Seniors - Nearly $400,000 to organizations supporting seniors in Wellesley. 

  • Infrastructure - $280,000 since 2020 to fund new trails, bridges, and other infrastructure in the township. 

  • Farmers - Over $418,000 in funding since 2020 to support farmers and producers in Wellesley Township. 

  • St. Clements Arena - We’ve funded many Wellesley community projects, including $80K to upgrade the St. Clements Arena.

Kitchener

  • Public Transit - Over $68 million since 2019 to improve public transit across our region, including Kitchener. 

  • School Upgrades - Over $1.5 million since 2019 for schools in Kitchener to make upgrades. 

  • Affordable Homes - invested over $47 million to fast-track and build affordable homes. 

  • Cultural and Community Organizations - Over $145K to many cultural and community organizations in Kitchener. 

  • New Library in Rosenberg - We invested $6M to fund a new library in the Rosenberg neighbourhood in Kitchener. 

  • Recreation Complex - We provided $9.7M for a new state-of-the-art indoor recreation complex at RBJ Schlegel Park.

Woolwich

  • New Homes - $6.7 million to fast-track 190 new homes in Woolwich as well as $5M for 28 new homes for seniors. 

  • Tourism - $1.3 million since 2021 for festivals, cultural organizations, and our tourism sector in Woolwich. 

  • Growth & Jobs - Over $3.1 million for businesses in Woolwich to spur growth and create good jobs. 

  • Internet Connectivity - $20M in funding to improve internet connectivity, invest in our airport in Breslau, and more. 

  • Senior Support - Over $5.45 million for housing, social programs, and more for seniors in Woolwich. 

  • Agriculture - $203,000 for our local agriculture sector here in Woolwich.

Wilmot

  • Local Food - Over $369,000 to support local food initiatives in Wilmot Township. 

  • Agriculture - $1.3 million in federal funding for Wilmot farmers, producers, and local agriculture 

  • Waterwheel Restoration - We’ve supported many local projects, including $300,000 to restore New Hamburg’s historic waterwheel. 

  • Infrastructure - More than $1 million in strengthening and revitalizing key infrastructure in the township. 

  • Seniors - We’ve provided $478,000 in funding since 2020 for wonderful organizations helping Wilmot seniors. 

  • Local Economy - More than $370,000 to many organizations and events supporting our local economy.
